When we hug someone in a social setting it is not ordinary to close our eyes- so when we see someone close their eyes it is a clear sign they are comfortable.

From an emotional standpoint we ordinarily close our eyes- when touching someone else- to block out visual distraction so we can fully engulf ourselves in the sensation and comfort the touch provides.◦
