Libyan leader Colonel Moamer Kadhafi speaks at the 64th United Nations General Assembly in the UN building in New York City on September 23, 2009.
What a mixed and confused message we see here.
He shows us open hands and palms, which is saying I'm being honest; while at the same time he is showing disgust and contempt in his upper lip. Anger in the eyes and brows...
Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Interesting analysis, yet I also would want to know what are the words being spoken and context of his speech, that have an impact on his nonverbal expressions?
Two Bloggers comments about Qaddahfi's speech:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/nickrobinson/2009/09/gaddafis_speech.html
And the actual transcript (long) for those who are interested in better understanding international politics:

I thoroughly enjoy this website and the topics of nonverbal communication and practical application to many aspects of life. And I also wish there were more emphasis on cross-cultural similarities/differences.
However, I am disappointed with the Sun-Zhu quote at the end of this analysis, because it is perpetuating the negative sterotypes of Arabs and Muslims in the media, as carefully researched and documented by Dr. Jack Shaheen (who happens to be a Christian Arab):
http://www.wolfmanproductions.com/shaheen.html
Ghaddafi is known for being eccentric in the Middle East, yet he does have valid points related to international politics if one is patient enough to listen to them with an open mind.
Also, I believe that if people were more aware of how the Arabs & Muslims have positively contributed to the foundations of our modern civilization, they would be less influenced by negative sterotypes in the media.

Another reason that using the Sun-Tzu quote in an anti-Arab/Muslim biased manner is unwise, is reflected in how Muslims are facing more and more discrimination:

Which is unfortunate, in light of the following opine:
