Sex-Abuse Trial of Tonya Craft Featured on The Today Show

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

April 29: A former kindergarten teacher is on trial, accused of molesting three young girls. Michelle Kosinski reports and NBC legal analyst Dan Abrams weighs in on the case that has rocked a small Georgia community.

When I watch the interview with Tonya Craft I am troubled from a Statement Analysis perspective. I also see at least one hot spot.

I would really like to see more interview footage of Tonya before telling you my impressions, so if you know of some please let me know either by posting a comment or clicking on the contact me at the bottom of the web page. Since Tonya was accused two years ago, her speech patterns and explanations could be "poisoned" because she has had to say the same thing over and over again- this can lead to a more practiced "speech" and cliches -that often are statement analysis hot spots- creep into their normal "speech."◦

Dancing with the Stars reject Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower Are Saying a Great Deal with thier Body Language

Dancing with the Stars reject Jake Pavelka and his former dance partner Chelsie Hightower still smiling as they pay a visit to Live with Regis and Kelly

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Thursday April 29 2010. Dancing with the Stars reject Jake Pavelka and his former dance partner Chelsie Hightower still smiling as they pay a visit to Live with Regis and Kelly . The The Bachelor star and his partner were voted off the popular ABC show Tuesday night after falling into the bottom two with their samba and group swing performances.

Couple of things stand out:

We point our feet in the direction we'd like to be going and her feet are interesting.

I also see her entire body is in the shape of a 'C' where her feet and head are about as far as you can get away from Jake.

Likely the appearance is contractually obligated to help publicize Dancing with the Stars, but I think it is clear that she is not a 'fan' of the latest bachelor...

While I did not see the show (except for small bits and pieces) I'd be interested in your thoughts- my guess- this couple did not have chemistry...◦

Gordon Bown Under Extreme Stress When Confronted with the Tape of 'Bigoted Woman'

Notice how is physically backs away from the microphone, then shrinks as small as possible, face down, hand holding up his head on his forehead.

It is also a study in statement analysis, listen carefully to every question he is asked and notice how he does not directly answer the question, and the exact words he uses when answering- unfortunately this is similar to so many politicians and Public Relations people when dealing with conflict.

Finger Pointing to the Crowd

You will usually see this gesture used by politicians, especially when entering the stage in front of a crowd. they all do it to appear they are connected and actually see someone they know, which is usually not the case. It just makes for a good photo op.

Here we see it on the red carpet, which is a bit unusual because photographers are not usually yelling hey point at me, they are just making noises and saying things like 'over here' so they get a good shot of the star looking into the camera.

Mimicking is likely going on, where one of the stars starting doing this and the other follow suit. Mimicking gestures is a way to build up a bond if you are doing this with someone you are talking and interacting with; in this case it is likely the coolest of the group started doing it and the others joined in...

Born to Be Good: The Science of a Meaningful Life

"Dacher Keltner is professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, director for the Greater Good Science Center, and coeditor of "Greater Good" magazine. His research deals mainly on pro-social emotions, power, and moral reasoning.

"Keltner extends the insights of Charles Darwin about short emotional language as a very important clue to understand our origins. He was also a follower of Paul Ekman and Wallace Friesen. He follows their methodology to quantify milliseconds movements of muscles in the face.

"Following further the research of Paul Ekman in New Guinea related to the universality of human facial expressions, Keltner regards emotions as symbols of our pledge to others and the basis of our most vital moral/ethical insight." - A.Ch.F. Weizmann, Ph.D., Haifa University

“A landmark book in the science of emotions and its implications for ethics and human universals.” —Library Journal, starred review In this startling study of human emotion, Dacher Keltner investigates an unanswered question of human evolution: If humans are hardwired to lead lives that are “nasty, brutish, and short,” why have we evolved with positive emotions like gratitude, amusement, awe, and compassion that promote ethical action and cooperative societies? Illustrated with more than fifty photographs of human emotions, Born to Be Good takes us on a journey through scientific discovery, personal narrative, and Eastern philosophy. Positive emotions, Keltner finds, lie at the core of human nature and shape our everyday behavior—and they just may be the key to understanding how we can live our lives better. 60 photos.◦

U.S. President Barack Obama during the Pledge of Allegiance

Obama Speaks At Naturalization Ceremony For Military Personnel

U.S. President Barack Obama places his hand over his heart during the playing of the national anthem prior to a ceremony for the administration of a military naturalization oath in the Rose Garden of the White House April 23, 2010 in Washington, DC. Obama spoke, in part, on immigration issues following the ceremony.

We place our hand over our heart when saying the Pledge of Allegiance to show our deepest feelings for the country.

The Pledge of Allegiance was written by a Baptist minister,Francis Bellamy who wrote the original Pledge in August 1892. Slight some word changes have occurred since then- but holding your hand over the heart has been done since the beginning of it being used in government situations.

Whenever we use routine gestures, such as holding our hand over our heart when we state the pledge or during the National Anthem we need to be sure to hold our hand directly over our heart.◦
