Is this another case of the father attempting a staging of an abduction to cover up the death of his child due to abuse?!?! Too many things point that way, broken arm, mother seeking full custody...

Emotionally I find the Mother's behavior odd, she is not totally overcome by the misery that is often seen from parents of missing children... they do not talk fast... they are tired and drained.  Here we see she is actually excited that her ex husband is now seen as the bad guy to the whole world...◦

"The search for Kyron Horman entered its fifth day Wednesday as searchers continued to work to find the 7-year-old boy who disappeared after a science fair at his elementary school in a rural area of Portland, Ore." -ABC News

One thing is clear there is real emotion coming through their voices and body language.

From a statement analysis perspective it is clear what is going on here...

The police have asked the family to give these statements. It is also clear the FBI is working with closely with them and is guiding what is being said.

There was a similar case that occurred some 30 years ago in Ohio in a community about 15 miles from Lake Erie; it was a small community and it was clear at the time to the FBI the Perpetrator was someone who was a volunteer and had inserted himself into the investigation and search efforts so he could learn how close they were to determining he had kidnapped the girl.

The investigators are attempting to personalize this by having the family read a statement/note TO Kyron. They have likely told the family it is possible that Kyron may actually hear what they say, if he is still alive. The investigators want to show some of the emotional pain the family is experiencing because if the perpetrator is feeling guilty- adding to it will help them find him. They are looking for changes in behavior and appearances. They are contacting employers to see who has been absent from work since Kyron disappeared.

They also suspect the perpetrator is someone they have already interviewed, this is why they are thanking those that have been interviewed countless times- It allows and explains the need for more and more interviews with the same people. It is interesting he specifically mentions the bus driver, if the bus driver was seen in the school before the science fair in the morning it is very significant. If he was not, this could be a strategy to deflect the direction of their true 'person of interest' such as someone else who worked at the school.

It is likely the perpetrator is someone whom the family members come into contact with on a regular basis, but he is not close to the family, and the family may not even know his actual name. The investigators have probably told the family to carry on with their normal routines (as much as possible) and keep a log of everyone they speak with and come in contact with; it is likely the perpetrator will offer support. It may even be the first time this person has actually spoken with them, but they likely recognize them as someone 'familiar.' When this person speaks with them there will be genuine concern and emotion in his voice, gestures, and message- this is the only time the perpetrator can let his emotion and feelings be shown.

The Prayer Vigil was video taped and investigators were in attendance.

If they do not 'find' him in the next several weeks, they will look closely at anyone who moves away from the community (known to the investigation) in the coming months and years.

This was a crime of opportunity, made possible by the science fair. This does not necessarily mean that the perpetrator was not an employee of the school... it is just as likely- that because of the many visitors to the school that morning- he felt he would not automatically become a suspect.

It is likely the perpetrator was himself a victim of childhood sexual abuse. It is unlikely that the perpetrator has a record. It is likely the perpetrator exercises and takes pride in his appearance.

If Kyron is dead, the perpetrator is bothered and feels guilty about the way he disposed of the body and he wants him to have a proper burial. This will be the largest part of his remorse and guilt and he will think of this often and it will hard for him to accept.

This person has not appeared in interviews or on camera.

The final chilling thought... the person who did this will likely read this post. In the same way he has inserted himself into the investigation, made contact with the family, and has been interviewed... he will seek out any information that may tell him how close they are to finding him. As he reads these sentences he will become agitated and extremely nervous. He will think what mistakes?!?! We will have his IP address, location, Internet service provider, search words used in search engines, etc. and this can be cross referenced with the large database of people that has been created for this case.

This case is a real mystery.

Oct. 17, 2009, Morgan had gone to Charlottesville with friends to attend a Metallica concert. Somehow, she got separated from the rest of her group. She had a fight with one of her friends, went to the bathroom, and found herself outside the arena during the concert without her ticket or car keys. Several witnesses reported seeing Morgan injured both inside and outside the Arena, one Metallica fan inside says she seemed “upset” with blood on her chin but declined his offer to help. Fought with security, asked a man for help who was waiting for a friend to go into the concert. Unable to get back in, she called her friends and told them not to worry about her; she’d find her own way home. Was seen walking across the parking lot with several college age boys. Ran into members of the Virginia Tech Men's basketball team. Was last seen walking across a bridge. Another expert has been bothered by the emotions of her friend when being interviewed and I have to agree it is odd.

I have been watching this case from the beginning. Used Google Maps to track her last movements and how far she was from her parents home. Watched interviews and news video concerning Morgan's disappearance. I even had a post all ready to go but decided to not post it for various reasons.

The post I never published, was about an odd statement her mother said at a press conference days after she initially went missing; where she said something about Morgan having laundry, etc. at home and she wanted her to come home so they could work it all out...

I do not want to bring pain to her family, and really want the police to make an arrest because I'm perplexed by some of the news coverage, the statements made by her friends, and the witness accounts, and the mothers odd statements and personality.

Something that has been taken out of context, is the media saying that Gil was making a reference to the book and/or movie "Lovely Bones." I thought it odd that someone with a missing girl would see that movie... perhaps she read the book when it came out? When you watch the video it is clear that she was literally referring to the actual bones of her daughter. This is very odd and creepy. I cannot imagine what I would do if something happened to my son or daughter, but I find it even harder to imagine talking about their bones!?!?!?

A "natural" who I asked to review this interview, actually gasped at the bones comment, and thought this was very odd. She went on to say that it is also odd how she looks to him when he is talking, while he doesn't look at her. There is a place at 4:23 when Dan is being asked if he thought the person who did this is local, where Gil swallows hard and is breathing harder, then looks down when he starts answering. This is obviously a stressful situation for her.

I also find another odd statement by Gil, "Dan wants justice and punishment of this man. I really care little about either one of those things. I know he will receive the punishment that he is due, at some point. I am concerned and determined that he be caught for safety reasons,”

To say this just four days after her daughter's body is found is odd, she must be very religious or has leaped through many of the stages of dealing with the death of a loved one.

We both are chalking up these comments, and unorthodox grieving process, and views to her obviously less than normal personality. We really want them to make an arrest and figure this out so we can learn from this case, to help us in future cases.

In many ways I feel Gil Harrington reminds me of Diena Thompson (the mother of a little girl from Florida whose body was found in a Georgia land fill). They both show little unsettling "quirks" when being interviewed.◦

Warning to All Parents

Something that has become all to clear in the last month, across the country, attempted abductions of children are up. I have to believe this is indirectly tied to:

-The mostly successful kidnapping pulled off by Phillip Garrido where he successfully kidnapped Jaycee Lee Dugard and held her for nearly two decades;
-The popularity of Dateline's To Catch a Predator series of investigating shows where they lure people to homes thinking they will have sex with underage girls;
-Several high profile missing, presumed abductions of, children without a single arrest in the last year.

While 99.9% of us find this repulsive, there is that small percentage of sickos who are inspired by this success and become inspired to act on their sick impulses.

I'm afraid this is not going to lessen in the coming months and years. In the area I live in, the amount of suspicious persons (strangers) speaking to children is on the rise according to local police- many of these sickos are in the beginning stages of working up to an actual abduction. On the local news almost every night there are reports of attempted abductions, and this is occurring across the country.

As the investigation intensifies in the murder of Florida 7-year-old Somer Thompson, her mother Diena Thompson, speaks out about the tragedy. ...

I said it from the start, she had nothing to do with the disappearance of her daughter. Many people have said she was fake crying in some of the earlier interviews, I said 'NO' they were real tears ( I felt they were real because the timing of wiping was random and not during lulls in the conversation/interview which is often the case when faked).

We do not have much information and the police are releasing less than usual for such a high profile crime.

Here is what we know: Mother was at work at the time. The kids she normally walks home with lost sight of her 1-2 blocks from the school. She had to have cut through at least one backyard to get to their home, based on when she was last seen. There are 60+ registered sex offenders in a 3-5 mile area from where she was last seen. Victimology would suggest two things: random act of opportunity presented itself to a predator; or parent of the child she got into a physical fight with at school that day should be interviewed (not likely but parents do strange things to protect and help their own children, I'm sure the police did conduct an interview). It was not premeditated. It was not an accident where someone was covering up the accidental death up with abduction scheme. The reason she was found in the dump was, she was placed in a dumpster in Orange City and delivered to dump via regular trash pick up.

I will state again, to be very clear, the mother had nothing to do with it. The only hot spot from this interview is how she refers to the person(s) who did this terrible crime, at one point it is "thing" at another "they" lured her in a car, and lastly she states her daughter realized "he" was a danger. This could easily be explained, "a thing" is depersonalising the unsub, the reference to "they" could be from initial reports concerning two people attempting to speak with a random child sometime before her daughters disappearance (I believe the day or week before).

She still appears to be experiencing normal emotions as someone who lost her daughter who is getting a great deal of support from her community.◦

The mother had nothing to do with her daughter's disappearance. What she is showing is true emotion; she is experiencing and showing 'normal' reactions given the experience and circumstances.◦

This is What I Think Happened to Haleigh Cummings

This is an educated guess based on the facts and how the people involved have acted since her disappearance.

Haleigh Cummings wet the bed that night (this has just come out in the last week when Misty was given a voice stress analyzer).

Whenever I hear this it puts me on alert. I was just reading a old statement by Green Beret Captain Jeffrey MacDonald, M.D. and in the statement he mentioned, "I was reading on the couch and my little girl Kristy had gone into bed with my wife. And I went in to go to bed, and the bed was wet. She had wet the bed on my side, so I brought her in her own room."

That night his wife, Colette, and his two children, Kristen and Kimberly were murdered. In 1979 MacDonald was convicted of the crime and sentenced to life in prison.

Crying and wetting the bed are common themes I see in cases where there has been an accident or murder involving a child. It is unnecessary information to the main point of the investigation and I always am on alert when this unnecessary information is included.

I believe Ron was directly involved in the accidental death of his daughter this could be due to a violent episode where he lost control of himself when he became enraged because Haleigh wet the bed; or some other accident. I believe Misty may have taken part in the abuse for her to go along with what happened next. She definitely was involved in the aftermath. I believe he left work to come home. It is hard to believe either could have worked together without being together. Perhaps Misty drove to Ron's work? Why did he tell her to turn off her cell phone- tracking purposes?

Ron was quite nervous and scarred in the first 4-5 days after Haleigh's "disappearance" but he quickly changed his demeanor after he convinced others that he had nothing to do with it because he was at work. A former FBI profiler said he became cocky at this point.

Haleigh died that night at which point they both freaked out and did not know what to do. They came up with the plan of an abduction scheme to avoid jail.

Misty has stated in the last week that a rose is where her body is located. I have to believe the body was put into water for the cadaver dogs to not to find it? They both know where the body is, and from the beginning of this ordeal I wanted the police to set up a mentalist/psychic who would do muscle reading called Hellströmism and/or Cumberlandism where they use a map like a Ouija board to find the body. Anyone except the unfeeling killer feels guilty when they think of the body decaying and would feel a certain amount of comfort if a proper burial for the victim occurs.

In cases like this, there is enough for the police to charge one or both of them, but the case becomes stronger with a body. If the suspect is talking to the media, it is all the better- continue to allow him/her to speak because he/she will be able to further implicate themselves.

Ron has coached Misty on what to say and how to act from the beginning.

The news stations got it completely wrong when they said Ron married her so he wouldn't have to testify against her. He convinced her to marry him so she couldn't testify against HIM! She continues to tell more and more of the story as time goes on and she does this because she feels she was not "as bad" as Ron.

In other posts I have referenced things Ron has done such as faked emotions & faked crying, the 911 call, and the incorrect verb tense used that lead me to believe he knew his daughter was dead. He is guilty.

P.S. 9/7/2009 There has been a great deal of chatter about this post, understandable. All the experts agree that there is something fishy about Ron and Misty. I have followed this case from the first time I saw an interview with Ron on the Today Show. Something is not adding up about this entire situation, so I went back and analyzed it from the perspective of what a normal parent would do; and what someone would do if they were attempting to cover up guilt. Misty would have broken, she isn't either smart or strong enough to pull something of this magnitude off. I will be looking at the grandmother's interview that I recently became aware of, she is the person who places Haleigh alive at 7 o'clock that evening. More to Come◦

I've always had a knack for listening to 911 calls and being able to determine if monkey business is going on. When someone is calling 911 they are in a high stakes and highly emotionally charged situation and I believe it is easy to hear things that do not fit.

I have written about the disappearance of Haleigh Cumming a couple of times. Without transcripts of their lie detector tests and VSA it is difficult to determine the details of the case... but with what I've learned in the last several days I believe I have a clear idea what happened based on what has been released. I also believe arrests will be made in the next several weeks.

In the next week I will outline my beliefs and the supporting evidence. It is not a difficult case as there are other experts speaking about Haleigh's disappearance and we all have agreed from the beginning of this situation.

Cummings: (inaudible, in background ) “Where my daughter at?”

911:” Ma’am. OK listen I need you to answer some questions. Does the door look like it was pried open?”

911: “Does it look like you had to sorta…like someone tried to enter your house.”

Misty: “Umm. Hold On.”

911:” And another thing, make sure you and your husband don’t touch the door anymore. Don’t mess with the door or anything. “

Misty: “No it doesn’t. “

911: “it doesn’t look like it is?”

911: “Ok, now listen, tell your husband, do not touch anything- because we are going to get a k-9 out there”

911: ” Ok Listen to me, I’m getting this information- I’m not the officer driving out there ok? – they are coming out there to handle that situation. I need to gather all the information from you over the phone…it has nothing to do with me driving out there…ok? They are coming out there…ok?”

Misty: “ok”

911: “ok, I’m going to stay on the phone with you ok? Until they get there…ok?”

Misty: “ok”

911: “tell him we’ve got them coming, he’s got to calm down a little bit. The officers are going to come out there and do what they can. We can’t have him screaming and yelling at the officers whenever they get there ok?”

Misty:” Uh huh…”

Without going into all the details, what stands out most here is how Ron cares more about retribution than getting his daughter back. This is not a normal feeling, emotion, or reaction. This reaction is normal much later in the process of coping of with a child that has been abducted. In the hours and days after the abduction the parents will care only about their child's safety and will plead and be willing to make bargains for their child's safe return.◦

"I'm in a very serious situation. What it is, I can't speak to you about
it. I have to wait.. As time goes on - you'll get pieces of the story in a

"What's kept me busy the last several years. I've completely turned my

MY COMMENTS ON THIS INTERVIEW

I have seen "I'm so sorry." said by Phillip Garrido taken completely out of context in headlines across the county. When he states this he is saying it to the reporter, and he is sorry for not being able to talk about it at this time.

"I have no desire to hold back these things." We have to ask ourselves why he did not answer the question. Why is he holding back now?

He never states that he did not kidnap her; Instead he implies he did it by calling her 'the witness... the victim."

He does not state her name, instead distances himself from her.

At some level he understands what he did to her, it is uncommon for the suspect to call the victim a victim or witness. You would be more likely to hear the pronouns 'she' or 'her' when he is speaking about her.

He is very aware of his legal situation, evidence by the slip of the tongue when he does say "witness." It is also clear that he knows this because he is aware to not speak about the details.

He distances himself from the criminal acts and instead wants to concentrate on the story.. the last two years where he changed to the point where it will be, "the most powerful heart-warming story."

The problem right now, is he is open to speaking and will do so as long as he can talk about the last two years, but reporters will concentrate on the "bad" while he wants to concentrate on the "good" and he will turn very quickly and stop speaking.

Does he believes what has happened in the last two years- where he devoted his life to God- is going to make up for the other 16 years. From reading his blog http://voicesrevealed.blogspot.com/ it is clear he tried to put forth he had delusions of "greatness" and that God speaks through him. Speaking in tongues is common among Pentecostalism and the Charismatic movement, but it does not appear he was affiliated with either of these churches. Speaking in tongues is an altered state much like hypnosis, where there is a certain amount of focus and clarity that gets attributed to God's word. This alone should not be interrupted as a defense for diminished capacity. Here is NOT a man who committed terrible crimes and turned to God to atone for his sins and guilt; instead he does not believe he has done wrong, but recognizes others will, and is attempting to lessen the evil under the guise of his relationship with God. This blog has been manufactured in an attempt to appear crazy- His blog speaks of mind control and Schizophrenia. He had several other blogs that appear to have no content. It is unclear why he would have spent so much time to produce documents, to say he has this gift but does not say what/why/how it has changed his life?!?! If he would have such a gift and passion for God there would be a great deal more posts in the blog, remember this is a man who ran a printing business- he dealt with words on a daily basis. This is part of his manipulation, this was a vital part of his relationship with his victims and his wife.

For a person to commit these crimes he depersonified her. In many ways she was no different from a family pet, and it appears she was treated as humanely.

He was abusive to his wife, Nancy Garrido (in all cases where a wife allows this to go happen, and even helps as is the case here) it is to alleviate the abuse she herself suffers from the sexual sadist. She must accept responsibility for her actions, she is not a victim, and she also depersonified the child and willingly allowed unspeakable evils to occur.



Jaycee Lee Dugard is a victim, no question. Some in the media question why she did not leave. He fathered two children with her, the first when Jaycee was about 14. Those children, both girls now 11 and 15, also were kept hidden away in the backyard compound. Jaycee likely became pregnant as quickly as she was physically able. With the addition of the child, he would have more control over her and would be able to threaten her with harm to her child. Mentally she would be a fragile as they come, at eleven she was placed in very violent adult situations without the understanding or skills necessary to deal with her situation- She'd quickly shut down and would have exhibited the same symptoms of traumatic stress.

He'd have little regard for her safety, other than to maintain her health to an acceptable level so he could live out his sick fantasies. He'd regard this in the same way he'd have to maintain his car. He'd skillfully give and grant her "treats" to solidify his control over her. He'd want to present himself as a benevolent leader in complete control of her, and his home.

He was caught, when officers said he was acting suspiciously toward the two children. A neighbor said he described the girls as "very shy" and said the older one was "very clingy to her father." Unfortunately the older daughter was was likely abused, and since she had none of the normal socialization that normal children get she would have a difficult time knowing what was appropriate touch. This is probably what made the officier suspicious. Since Jaycee was 11 when she was kidnapped it is likely that the younger daughter was becoming a target of his advances and this could have been the reason for Jaycee decided to walk into the Bay area police station.

In every situation where a person is held against their will for extended periods of time there is a great deal of control and threats used by the kidnapper to maintain order, and an unhealthy and unnatural bond is developed between the kidnapper and victim. This is a further sign of the extent of victimization that has occurred. It should not be misunderstood.

I mentioned last week, when I was on vacation, seeing a news story in Florida. At that time I saw things such as shame while the person was in court, and he was too calm given the circumstances. When I returned home I was seeing if there was any more video of the suspect. I only found this 15 second clip as he is being escorted into a police station where a reporter was asking him questions.

It really is not a great deal of time, but sometimes that is all you have to work with. Normally when I do this type of analysis for television stations I am analyzing an entire interview (which is easier because you can establish a baseline and more easily identify gestures/clusters/and roles) but I thought it might be nice for you to see the type of thing I do for news organizations.

One Way to Spot a Pedophiles or Shoplifter in Real Life with Their Body Language

This is the one area where I was clearly able to spot before any training in body language.

Note: Everybody acts differently depending on the situation. To say it more concretely, if you see a man you see acting in the way I describe below, he could be acting that way because he HATES kids and becomes nervous around them. I only offer this as a guide to be more aware and careful with your own kids.

I first learned to spot shoplifters while working at a grocery store. I then noticed the same behavior with potential pedophiles after I had my own kids.

The spot or tell is clearly seen when you know what to look for. The first time I saw this I was working in the meat department after school. Everybody had to pass by the meat counter to enter the store and almost immediately I could pick out potential shoplifters. I got so good at it all I had to do was give a quick call to the manager up in the office, he had a one way mirrored window and could watch the shoplifter from his lofty perch. I made the call a couple of times a week, and I only worked there for 2-3 hours an evening.

What to look for? 90% Gestures and 10% eyes.

Both the shoplifter and pedophile uses very little gestures.

Their movements are controlled and planned to the point where it always appearedto me as unnatural.

With the shoplifter they will pick up a few things, but it is all for show- and you can tell it is for show by the way they hold items higher and away from their body- then they pick up the thing they are going to pocket and you can tell by how they reach for it and the speed of their arms and hands. They appear to be browsing but the scan of the store is unnatural and their eyes will even pay much more attention to other people in the store than the actual merchandise. If you want to identify the shoplifter simply concentrate on the lack of gestures and controlled movements.

The pedophile is similar in many ways. When they see a object of their affection they also get "tight" and gesture less. They most often quickly look away, for fear someone will see them watching someone else. They will glance around more, and often will focus on adults closest to who they really want to look at, so they can use their peripheral vision to watch the child. It looks slightly unnatural compared to how others there are acting. They glance at many different people so it does not look obvious that they would be looking at a child, but they will hold the gaze a slight beat or two more than the others he is glancing at. Children are fast and move in a nonstop way, this works to the pedophiles advantage and disadvantage. It allows them to scan, but if you are looking for it, it gets them caught because their gaze settles a beat too long. If you want to identify the potential pedophile simply concentrate on the lack of gestures.

What to do with this information? Nothing and Everything.

I rarely get involved with shoplifters, people are crazy and willing to do all kinds of stupid things for drugs, etc. I can spot undercover security as clearly as the shoplifter (they look both too natural and unnatural; and even though they do not interact with others working at the store you can tell by the way hold eye contact a beat too long, or quickly avoid eye contact with clerks; etc.). A couple of times I've done is a quick double take at the shoplifter, show disgust, and simply walk away- this is enough for security to pick up on them and at least notice them. Other times I have starred at them, I've even acted like security browsing items in the same isle. It all depends on the situation.

Potential pedophiles are a different ball game. I can never be sure why they are acting strangely so I am immediately on guard. I study the person and determine the level of threat. I see if they are alone. If they are alone I'll make it a point to be closer to the individual so I can more closely examine the situation. In my 20 years of being able to see this behavior I've seen 10 or so people that put me on high guard. Of course I can do very little other than make my presence known subtly and not so subtly, and take responsibility for each and every child in the area.

Note: This only works with the strangers. It does not work at all with those who have mastered the art of being placed in an authority position with our children (teachers, camp leaders, etc).
There is also another thing I need to mention, not ALL pedophiles act the same way. We obviously need to be careful and always be on the guard, especially with those we place our trust of our children in.◦

One Way to Spot a Pedophiles or Shoplifter in Real Life with Their Body Language

Something that bothers me about a comment made by the uncle of Nevaeh Buchanan

Even though he is only on camera for less than ten seconds what he says strikes me as odd. Ten seconds is not enough time to get a true read on someone so I would want to hear more before reaching any conclusions.

He says, "Our family thanks everybody from the bottom of their hearts for all their help and everything, and hopefully there's a good outcome with this tonight," said Michael Buchanan, Nevaeh's uncle.

My concern here is what would be a good outcome, when you are searching woods and fields? As a family member a good outcome is finding her alive and doing well, not finding a body. This is an unusual statement. I also do not like the "emotion" he is showing, it does appear somewhat conspired. I also do not like the distancing himself from the family by the use of "their" especially when he used "our" in the very beginning of the sentence. Being on television can produce a certain amount of nervousness that could explain these inconsistencies, but he doesn't appear nervous.

I've been looking for more information about the Uncle, and find it odd that he is criticizing the mother in the media. This is something he may feel, but it is something you only say privately; you do not hit someone when they are down when they are going through the toughest of situations; it also draws attention to the sexual offenders. This is all very interesting.

Once again, there is not enough time or information to fully come to any conclusions.◦
